It is widely accepted that organisations, no matter what size, are subject to a certain predictable pattern of life: they transition through a range of stages and ultimately reach a stage where they need to be reborn or they will perish. (Adler, Karen R. and Paul M Swiercz "Taming the Performance Bell Curve" Training and Development, October 1977, 33)
Using the Framework to Enhance the Organisation's Life Cycle
A basic life cycle of the organisation is shown in the diagram below. The challenges faced by the organisation at each point in this cycle will affect how efficiently and effectively it transitions to the next stage. Failure to respond to these issues may lead to an earlier demise of the organisation, or can affect the size and duration of its growth and maturity.
The TLICTM Framework and practical application is designed to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of organisations in responding to the challenges that are presented to them at each stage. It will also prolong the growth and maturity stages of the organisation (if applied early enough in the organisation's life cycle) so that the capacity and longevity of the organisation is enhanced. For those organisations already in a decline stage, the TLICTM Framework and application can support a more efficient and effective renewal and startup, thereby leading the organisation towards growth in a more efficient and effective manner. An overlay of the TLICTM Continuum for organisational development against an improved organisational life cycle is shown in the diagram below.
The TLICTM Framework can be specifically customised to support the organisation through the evolutionary and revolutionary stages of growth (Greiner, L. "Evolution and Revolution as Organizations Grow." Harvard Business Review. July-August 1972). With highly flexible and adaptable tools, methods and application, TLICTM can help to promote the transition through the growth stages so that evolution is maximised and revolution is managed efficiently and effectively. On the ground coaching and support will help the team to learn and lead, whilst at the same time strategic support will enable the organisation's systems to grow and adapt to the pressures of the evolutionary requirement.
It is through this holistic support that you can be assured optimal growth and sustained maturity.
